The head of "Naftogaz" Yuri Vitrenko demanded that "Gazprom" unlock the ability to receive on the border between Ukraine and Russia gas from Turkmenistan, RIA Novosti reported today.

The top Manager wrote about it on Facebook. He added that it is also necessary to allow Kiev to buy gas from independent Russian miners. At the same time, Vitrenko reminded that Ukraine acts as a transit of fuel for European counterparties of Gazprom.

At the same time, the countries have not yet signed an agreement on the transit of Russian gas from 2020, the parties are discussing a possible contract at trilateral talks in Brussels.

Earlier, the Minister of energy and environment of Ukraine Alexei Orzhel said that Kiev will support the position of the European Commission: "Gazprom" books transit for a ten-year period with an average annual volume of 60 billion cubic meters of gas. Another 30 billion cubic meters per year remain available for other companies or Gazprom's short-term contracts.

Earlier, for many years, Ukraine was a buyer of large volumes of Turkmen gas. In 2005, Turkmenistan supplied 36 billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine under a contract, half of which was paid for in foreign currency and the other half in investment projects in the construction sector. In the future, due to the debts formed, the supply of Turkmen gas to Ukraine was stopped. Later, Ukraine repeatedly appealed to Turkmenistan and Russia, as a transit party, with a request to resume direct supplies of Turkmen gas. But so far these issues have not been resolved.
