Today in Ashgabat in the conference hall of the State migration service of Turkmenistan was held a solemn ceremony of handing passports to stateless persons. It is also a significant event for Maria Semyonova, her mother and brother from Mary Region.
Is one of the happiest days for our family – said M. Semyonova in an interview with Turkmenportal after the ceremony of handing passports to new citizens of Turkmenistan . – Today for me, my mother and younger brother were handed passports of citizens of Turkmenistan. So, it's a celebration for our whole family.
It happened when I was little, our family had to leave Turkmenistan, but a few years later we returned home. I finished secondary school here, then secondary vocational school, got a specialty and now I work. Obtaining citizenship gives a sense of confidence for their future. For me and my brother, new opportunities are opening up for us to reach our full potential.
I've been waiting for this moment for years. And here I am holding a passport of a citizen of independent Turkmenistan. A passport is more than just a document. From now on, as a citizen, I can enjoy all the rights and benefits that citizenship gives me. On behalf of myself and my family, I want to say a big thank you to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity to become full citizens of Turkmenistan.
