Today, the state migration service held a solemn ceremony of handing passports to persons accepted into the citizenship of Turkmenistan. Their owners were 863 people who by the will of fate lived on the territory of our country without citizenship and only recently gained it thanks to the Decree signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It is symbolic that this humane decision on the part of the head of state was made on the eve of the Independence Day of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the country, international organizations, honorary elders, cadets of military universities and the media.

In recent years, our country has become a second home for many people, due to certain reasons and circumstances forced to leave their homes.

The humanitarian direction is one of the most important components of the domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, where the highest value of society and the state proclaimed to man. Consistent and systematic work is being carried out on the basis of national legislation and generally accepted international norms to protect and guarantee the rights, freedoms, and interests of all people living in our country.

By acceding to the main international legal instruments of the United Nations, including the Convention "On the status of refugees" and its Protocol, the UN Conventions "On the status of stateless persons" and "On the reduction of statelessness", our country in fact confirms its commitment to its obligations, as well as to the principles of genuine humanism laid down in the Foundation of the state policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Over the years of independence, the national legislative framework in this area has been supplemented by laws of Turkmenistan regulating the legal status of migrants, refugees and stateless persons and guaranteeing their rights and freedoms.
