Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on the implementation of citizenship of Turkmenistan 863 people

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed today a Decree on the admission of 863 people to the citizenship of Turkmenistan. By the will of fate, these persons living in the territory of our country did not have citizenship, the press service of the head of state reported.

"As a member of the United Nations, Turkmenistan strictly fulfills all its obligations and, in accordance with the Constitution of the country, as well as various UN conventions on refugees and human rights, provides support to stateless persons," Berdimuhamedov said, signing the document at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The head of state instructed Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Secretary of the State Security Council Yaylim Berdiev to provide passports to new citizens of Turkmenistan within a month. The hakims of the provinces were instructed to organize a solemn presentation of their passports and, if necessary, to assist with employment and living conditions.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State migration service, together with the relevant ministries and departments, are instructed to continue work on the registration of documents of stateless persons wishing to become citizens of Turkmenistan, with subsequent proposals for consideration by the head of state," the Decree signed by the President of Turkmenistan reads.
