Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan sign Protocol on cooperation

The Protocol on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian spheres was signed by Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan following the results of the 4th meeting of the intergovernmental Commission held in Bishkek today.

According to the Turkmen foreign Ministry, the meeting was attended by heads and representatives of state and business structures of the two countries. At the beginning of the meeting, the parties reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached during the third session of the intergovernmental Commission, noting the positive nature of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The participants of the meeting discussed the strengthening of the legal framework, as well as the possibility of expanding partnership, in particular in the field of the textile industry and agriculture.  Special attention was paid to energy and transport issues. It was noted that there is a need to exchange experience between experts from the public and private sectors of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as to organize joint business forums and events. 

The meeting also discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular, the possibility of establishing inter-University relations between higher education institutions of the two countries, including the development of scientific and technical projects.  The parties also noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of sports and tourism.

Also, in the framework of the working visit to Bishkek Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan jointly with the Kyrgyz party was organized by business dialogue with the participation of representatives of the two countries, during which the sides discussed issues of intensifying bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
