The President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Singapore outlined promising areas of cooperation

At the meeting of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loon, which was also attended by members of the official delegations of the two countries, the promising areas of Turkmen-Singapore cooperation, such as banking and financial spheres, as well as urban development, were outlined. Singapore has accumulated a lot of experience in these areas, and Turkmenistan is interested in studying it, the State news Agency reports.

According to the information, there are great opportunities for partnership in the field of energy, where Turkmenistan has significant potential and rich hydrocarbon resources. In this segment, good prospects are also opening in the context of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

In the transport and transit sphere, Turkmenistan also considers Singapore as a major potential partner in the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, Turkmenistan is forming an extensive network of transport, transit and logistics infrastructure of combined type on the East-West and North-South lines. It includes transit corridors overlooking the Caspian sea, the black sea basin, the Mediterranean sea region and the Persian Gulf.

Turkmenistan supports the joint development of proposals for the development of transport infrastructure for discussion in specialized international structures, in particular, in the UN Economic and social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

In the context of the intensification of humanitarian cooperation, the urgency of joint activities in the scientific and educational sphere, in the field of culture and art was noted as an important factor contributing to the rapprochement and mutual enrichment of the two peoples, strengthening friendship between them.

The initial experience of the Turkmen-Singapore partnership has been accumulated in the field of education and training of qualified personnel. Of great interest to Turkmenistan are the educational opportunities that Singapore has today, first of all, taking into account the development of high-tech sectors of the economy of our country, the creation of digital clusters.

The Turkmen side is grateful to the government of Singapore for providing the opportunity to train qualified specialists within the framework of the Singapore cooperation program. We are talking about such areas of study as economic planning, banking, information technology.

As the head of Turkmenistan stressed, this first visit to Singapore is intended to be a milestone event in the history of interstate dialogue, to give a proper impetus to the development of cooperation in a wide range of areas. Today, the Singapore side has demonstrated its readiness for such cooperation.

Taking this opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed wishes of peace and prosperity to the people of Singapore. Thanking Prime Minister Li Hsien Long for the constructive dialogue, the Turkmen leader invited the head of the Singapore Government to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit at a convenient time for him, the information says.
