Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects of cooperation

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in the framework of participation in the meeting in the format of C5+1 of the foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and the United States held in Nur-Sultan talks with his Kazakh counterpart Beibut Atamkulov.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, during the meeting, the parties noted the significant potential of expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The prospects of increasing mutual trade, as well as the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the transit-transport and energy sectors are discussed in detail. The schedule of the upcoming summits and high-level meetings was discussed. At the same time, R. Meredov invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan B. Atamkulov to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit.

The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan congratulated his Turkmen counterpart on the successful holding of the first Caspian economic forum, which was held on August 12, 2019, in Turkmenbashi. The forum was another evidence of the most important results of the 5th summit of the heads of the Caspian States on August 12 last year in Aktau, during which the historical Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea was signed, which opened a new page in relations between the States of the Caspian region.

In turn, R. Meredov congratulated his Kazakh counterpart on the successful holding of the meeting in the format of "C5+1" and noted the constructive cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in the framework of international and regional organizations.
