Merv's football players reached the quarterfinals of the Cup of Turkmenistan without any problems, having beaten today following the results of two matches of Turkmennebit.
Opponents represented different leagues of Turkmen football. “Merv” is a senior league old-timer, and “Turkmennebit” plays in the First League.
After the first game in Mary, in which “Merv” defeated the opponent - 5: 0, the return match turned into a simple formality. In the 11th minute of the match, Merv forward Toili Gochnazarov scored the only goal in this meeting.
In the quarter-finals, Merv will meet with Turkmenistan's vice champion Akhal. Other quarter-final pairs were: “Altyn Asyr” - “Nebitchi”, “Energy” - “Ashgabat” and “Shagadam” - “Kopetdag”.
The first matches of the quarter-finals will be held on August 14-15, the return matches on September 18.
The current holder of the Turkmenistan Cup is the Ashgabat Kopetdag. Last year, this very titled club in our country won in the final against Mary “Energetika” - 5: 4 in the penalty shootout (main and extra time - 0: 0) and won the trophy for the seventh time.
