The commissioning of a gasoline production plant from natural gas in Turkmenistan has become a landmark event of international scale. The publications emphasize that the plant built in Akhal velayat, in which President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the solemn launching ceremony, is the first plant in the world to produce synthetic gasoline from natural gas in industrial volumes.

It is noted that this unique complex was commissioned by the Turkmengaz State Concern by a consortium of companies Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. (Japan) and Rönesans (Turkey). Its capacity is 600 thousand tons of eco-friendly gasoline ECO-93, corresponding to the standard EURO-5. The GTG project (gas to gasoline) is based on the TIGAS technology developed by the Danish company Haldor Topsоe. The total project cost is 1.7 billion US dollars. The Bank of International Cooperation of Japan participated in its financing.

“By implementing such unprecedented projects, we create the necessary conditions for turning our country into one of the most effective centers of a green economy focused on the future for the whole world,” President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov quoted the media.

It is also noted that the ceremony read out a message from Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, who, on behalf of the Japanese government, sent sincere congratulations to the head of state on the successful completion of the construction of a gasoline plant from natural gas.
