Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan presented 50 sets of judogi to Turkmen athletes

Today in Ashgabat, the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan with the support of the Judo Federation of Turkmenistan organized a donation ceremony for judogi (judo clothes) for Turkmen masters of Japanese judo martial art. 

In June 2018, the Minister of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan Dayanch Gulgeldiyev visited Japan, during which a meeting was held with the Chairman of the All-Japan Judo Federation Yasuhiro Yamashita. Then, it was decided to accept one trainer from Turkmenistan to exchange experience. In November of the same year, Rovshen Amandurdyyev from the Judo Federation of Turkmenistan went through training practice in Japan for one month.

At the request of Rovshen Amandurdyyev and thanks to the assistance of Yasuhiro Yamashita managed to donate 50 sets of clothes for judo today in Ashgabat.

“I am glad to see, that Judo, which is one of the traditional Japanese martial arts, is very popular in Turkmenistan”, said Charge D'affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan Kondo Shunsuke in his welcoming speech. 

The diplomat expressed hope that “Turkmen athletes will get as many medals as possible at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020”.
