Turkmenistan and Armenia exchanged views on consular issues

In accordance with the Cooperation Programme between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia for 2018-2019, during the period of June 6-7, 2019, the first Turkmen-Armenian consultations on consular issues on the level of the heads of the consular services of the external policy agencies were held in the city of Yerevan, reports the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the consultations, the parties thoroughly discussed a number of consular issues presenting mutual interest.  According to the agenda, the parties discussed the standing of the implementation of the clauses of the Minsk Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters that was adopted on the 23rd of January 1993 and expressed content on the execution of the Convention’s articles by the sides.       

The consultations were carried out in traditionally friendly and trustworthy atmosphere peculiar to Turkmen-Armenian relations.  The parties agreed on holding the next round of consultations, the dates of which will be settled through the diplomatic channels. 

Upon completion of bilateral consultations, the signing ceremony of the Protocol on Consular Consultations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia took place. 

Also, the Turkmen delegation was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan. During the exchange of views, positive dynamics of growth of traditionally friendly Turkmen-Armenian relations in different fields was noted.
