The delegation of Turkmenistan held a series of talks in Brussels on the construction of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline

A delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on Oil and Gas issues visited Brussels (Belgium) from May 28 to 30, 2019, the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

During the visit, a technical meeting "Turkmenistan-European Union" was held with the participation of representatives of the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission. During the meeting, the European side highlighted the proposal of Turkmenistan to conclude the Framework Agreement on Energy Partnership between Turkmenistan and the European Union. At the same time, the process of its further approval at the European Union site, future gas supplies to the EU, the position of Turkmenistan in the export of natural gas to European markets was discussed.

Also, the Turkmen delegation held a joint meeting with representatives of BP, Shell and Total in the framework of the technical meeting, during which the sides exchanged views and practical ideas on establishing bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, in particular the question of their possible participation in the implementation of the Trans-Caspian pipeline project.

On May 29, 2019, the delegation of Turkmenistan met with the Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič and Director General of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission Dominique Ristori. During the meeting, aspects of enhancing the interaction of Turkmenistan with the European Union in the energy sector were discussed. To this end, the parties agreed to continue the constructive Dialogue between Turkmenistan and the EU, both at the highest level and in the format of a working group in Ashgabat and Brussels.
