The Hosh Zaman enterprise of Turkmenistan won the Gold Award at the 28th annual meeting of theEuropean Bank for Reconstruction and Development, held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EBRD site reports.

Twelve companies that have made outstanding contributions to environmental and social sustainability have been awarded at the 28th annual meeting of the EBRD, held in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The award ceremony was preceded by the release of the EBRD's latest sustainability report.

Sustainable development is at the core of the EBRD’s activities, and these awards are awarded to companies that have committed themselves to ensuring sustainability, which is a key priority in their operations. After the nomination of 52 projects this year, 12 projects were selected in four categories, which were awarded gold, silver and bronze awards.

In the Climate Resilience category, the greenhouses of the Turkmen enterprise Hosh Zaman were awarded the Golden Award. The work of a small agricultural enterprise in an extremely arid climate is associated with certain risks. But Hosh Zaman took into account all the consequences of climate change, and as a result, the company became more competitive. They introduced hydroponic greenhouses - a highly efficient technology that allows them to grow tomatoes without using soil and with reduced water consumption, saving a volume of water equal to 34 Olympic-size pools per year.

EBRD promotes environmental and social sustainability through investment in projects, financial partners and technical cooperation programs.
