Sports competitions organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan took place in Beijing

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in China, together with the North China University of Technology, organized tournaments in several sports. The competition was held in the framework of the 2019 program - “Turkmenistan - the Homeland of Prosperity” and the month of mass physical culture and recreation events held in our country, the electronic newspaper “Turkmenistan: the Golden age” reports.

In the sports complex of the university, in which 80 Turkmen students study, there were competitions in futsal, volleyball, running, table tennis, chess and checkers. In total, 150 people took part in the competition: students, including from Turkmenistan, studying in Beijing universities, schoolchildren, diplomats, and members of their families.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China Parahat Durdyyev spoke about the policy of the Turkmen leader to establish the principles of a healthy lifestyle in the society, develop high-end sports and create an ecological culture. The role of sports diplomacy as an important tool of international humanitarian cooperation was particularly emphasized. The head of the Turkmen diplomatic mission thanked the rector of the North China Technological University and personally the vice-rector, Professor Ms. Shen Jili for providing the University infrastructure, as well as creating a team of volunteers for successful competitions.

The winners in all sports were awarded cups, and the medalists were awarded souvenirs and diplomas established by the Embassy of Turkmenistan and the rector of the North China University of Technology. For participants and guests of the tournament was laid dastarkhan, which was decorated with dishes of Turkmen cuisine. Festive atmosphere emphasized musical numbers.

As part of his visit to the North China Technological University, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Parahat Durdyyev met with the vice-rector of the university, Ms. Shen Jili, during which they discussed the possibilities of establishing cooperation with relevant Turkmen universities and aspects of the preparation of the relevant memorandum.

The parties expressed mutual interest in intensifying the dialogue in the scientific and educational sphere, taking into account the wide opportunities developed at the university for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in engineering, technological, humanitarian and other disciplines.
