The national hockey team of Turkmenistan will perform in the 2019 IIHF World Championship Division III from April 22 to April 28, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
The competitions will be held in the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia at the ice arena of the sports complex Winter Palace, where Turkmen hockey players will conduct only one adaptation training the day before the tournament starts. But, hopefully, this will be enough for the students of Bayram Allayarov to get a feel for the site and subsequently show their best athletic qualities.
In 2017, the Turkmenistan national team won a convincing victory in the second division of the Asian Winter Games, held in the Japanese city of Sapporo. This provided access to the first division of the next winter Asian Games, which will be held in 2021 in China. We also note the victory of the Turkmen team at last year's qualifying tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which allowed our team to reach the third division of the 2019 World Championship in Sofia for the first time.
The rivals of Turkmenistan will be five teams. On April 22, we will fight with the Chinese Taipei team, and the next day - with athletes from the Republic of South Africa. After a one-day break, our team will test the strength of the hockey players from Bulgaria and Luxembourg, and on the final day of the championship we will have to fight with the Turkish team.
