GDP growth in Turkmenistan since the beginning of 2019 amounted to 6.2 percent

The results of the first quarter show that the economy of Turkmenistan is developing steadily. This was reported at the meeting of the Government by Deputy Prime Minister Gochmyrat Myradov. According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the growth rate of GDP since the beginning of the year has been consistently at the level of 6.2 percent. Compared to the same period last year, exports of domestic goods increased by 20.7 percent, imports decreased by almost 27 percent.

Compared to the same period last year, the production volumes of various types of products increased, positive dynamics was observed in the production of confectionery and sausage products, as well as flour, bread, bakery and pasta.

During the reporting period, there was an increase in indicators in the transport and communications sector. In January-March, in relation to the same period of 2018, cargo turnover for all types of transport increased by 6.4 percent, passenger turnover - by 4 percent. In the field of communications, the increase is 2.7 percent. The growth rate for agricultural production is provided at the level of 28.2 percent.

During the period under review, the volume of utilized investments from all sources of financing amounted to 5 billion manat. In the first quarter, growth was also achieved in the non-state sector of the economy, whose share in the total volume of output was 63.3 percent. As of April 1 of the current year, the revenue part of the main financial plan of the country was fulfilled at the level of 104.7 percent, and the expenditure part - by 84.3 percent.

At large and medium-sized enterprises in the country, the average monthly wage increased by 9.4 percent compared to the first quarter of the past year. During the reporting period, wages, pensions, government benefits and student scholarships were paid in full and on time.
