On 6 April 2019, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Geneva organized a football championship among junior teams.
The championship was dedicated to the month of mass sports and sports-recreational activities, held under the motto «Health and Happiness».
At the opening ceremony of the championship, the Ambassador Mr. Atageldi Haljanov, noted that the event, which has become an annual tradition at the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is timed to World Health Day, widely celebrated in April both in Turkmenistan and the World.
It was especially noted that sports events celebrated both in Turkmenistan and the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad, are aimed at actively introducing the principles of a healthy lifestyle in society, popularizing and developing physical culture and sports, strengthening international cooperation in this field.
Children’s football teams from various schools of Geneva took part at the championship.
At the award ceremony, the Ambassador Mr. Haljanov expressed his confidence that the competition was interesting and useful for young athletes, and such sports campaigns will henceforth serve as an impetus to the sports and wellness movement both in Turkmenistan and all over the world.
