Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects of cross-border cooperation

Prospects of mutual relationship in cross-border cooperation were discussed at the meeting of the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Toyly Komekov held in Nur-Sultan city, Kazinform reported with reference to the press service of the upper house of Parliament.

The head of the Senate drew attention to the proposals of the Mangystau region in 13 directions, which were submitted to the Turkmen side. The projects on the construction of the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan highway and a new bridge across the Garabogazgol Bay will contribute to the increase in trade, cargo and passenger traffic. 

The parties confirmed their readiness to contribute to the implementation of the ambitious goal of reaching the billion mark in mutual trade. According to Nazarbayeva, the joint intergovernmental Commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation should become an effective mechanism for the implementation of the tasks to increase bilateral trade.

The head of the Senate called for the activation of inter-parliamentary relations. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan handed over to Dariga Nazarbayeva an invitation to official visit to Ashgabat, as well as to take part in the 1st Caspian Economic Forum in Avaza.

Toyly Komekov highly appreciated the contribution of Nursultan Nazarbayev to global and regional security, stressing his leadership in the anti-nuclear movement, the promotion of integration processes. He informed that Turkmenistan positively accepted the renaming of the capital of Kazakhstan to Nur-Sultan, thereby perpetuating the invaluable merits of Nursultan Nazarbayev.  

The meeting with the head of the Senate of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva was held at the request of the Turkmen Ambassador, the press service of the upper house of Parliament reported in the official information.
